#2 - Wow! That's interesting. Thanks for posting. Recently there was a spot on our news where a group of older ladies refurbish dolls to give to underprivledged children. It was really cute (I didn't see any AG's.) My husband said now he knows where I can get a job when I retire.

There's a doll museum just north of me in Brunswick, GA. I've never been to it though. I think I might just go check it out now.

PS Littledarling - I love your doll names! I've always thought Allegra was a cool name and Zipporah is the name of the girl in the next 'Dear America' book I want to read. Of course Dianna is what I named my own daughter (It was my original middle name.) And Charlotte Patricia will be my first grand daughter!

I haven't been around much for a while due to personal things but I just saw something that I thought you all might be interested in so I just had to post quickly.

One of the local stations has this show that goes around the state and features different and unique things and people. Most of the topics have to do with fishing or hunting or enjoying the outdoors but tonight it also had a lady who has been collecting dolls for 20 years (I believe it said). They showed a lot of her dolls and it's amazing how many different ones she has. She estimated that she has dolls from probably 60% of the countries of the world! She had a huge variety from celebrities to those dolls that have a smaller one inside and that one has a smaller one and so on. It was really neat to see them and they did a good job of spanning around so that a lot of the dolls could be seen as opposed to just a few. I tried to see if there were an AGs but I couldn't tell for sure, though I thought I saw two. I guess she even had to move once because her dolls were taking over and they are almost that bad again, from what I understood. She would like to open a doll museum, and mentioned that there used to be one.

The thing I thought you all might be interested in though (well, in addition) was a fact that the reporter said, that doll collecting is the 2nd most popular hobby. Stamp collecting I guess is the most popular. So the next time someone teases you about liking dolls, you can just tell them that fact. I thought it was interesting. I knew doll collecting was more popular than some people think, but I didn't know it was #2.

I am doing an internship at Catholic Charities Emergency Services. We get a lot of donated toys and dolls too. Most of the dolls are in terrible condition... there so dirty and naked too (naked dolls drive me nuts). I think I'm going to take them home to clean them up a bit and then bring them back. And maybe find some clothes. If anybody has old doll clothes to donate let me know. Most of these dolls won't fit AG clothes (they're mostly baby dolls and Barbies). I'm so excited! Thanks for the idea!

    Stephanie -

A good place to find doll clothes cheap is second hand thrift stores. Sometimes baby clothes will fit them.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks! That's cool about the names. I think Zipporah and I've read that Dear America book, about Zipporah Feldman? It's a good book, Zipporah was with me at the library (my library has baskets and sometimes I take a doll with me and she'll ride in the basket) when I saw it (or I guess she saw it) and begged to check it out because the character had the same first name as her, lol. They actually had several things in common, which was pretty cool.

I remember seeing a set when I was younger and just loved opening the doll to discover a smaller one inside.
